Anyone working with clients and colleagues can experience interactions that may feel uncomfortable, difficult, or perplexing. Angry co-workers, upset clients, and hot-and-cold supervisors are just some of the difficult interactions that many of us experience. When these situations involve clients, it is especially important to respond to them in a manner that maintains the relationship.
Join Michele Ross, the host of the Paralegal Core Competency Series, and Deborah Brakeley, a registered clinical counsellor and collaborative divorce coach, as they discuss how to deal with difficult people. They will provide you with an understanding of the elements at play and will show you how to successfully navigate these situations.
In this course you will learn:
- how to really listen and why it is so important
- how to recognize what is happening for the other person
- how your reactions are affecting the interaction and what to do about it
- what is happening in the brain to fuel emotional reactivity
- tips for managing some of the most common situations a paralegal will encounter
