Topic: "Harnessing tele-medical technology for Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) of medlegal clients"
Dr. Richard Veerapen is a former neurosurgeon who is legally trained to doctoral level and is an honorary lecturer at the University of Britich Columbia's MD Undergraduate program. He is currently the Clinical Director and Medlegal Consultant at Cira Health Solutions in Vancouver.
Dr. Veerapen will be educating us on the use of secure videoconferencing technologies to connect patients with health professionals from a distance. This technology offers significant advantages in acquiring IMEs which he will be discussing during his presentation.
This interactive lunch and learn session will offer basic background information about telemedical technology, address its various advantages and safeguards, as well as examining concerns that could arise when used for obtaining medical legal IMEs.
